Videos

Please take a moment to view our small collection of video segments. VMAC feels that it is imperative to give all Vermonters full and unfettered access to information and materials which mainstream media is reluctant to share.

To facilitate this full and open sharing of information, VMAC has begun offering video clips of public forums, etc. Since this video collection will grow as VMAC’s mission unfolds, please check back periodically to stay appraised of any new additions.

We highly recommend exploring these videos, as they, and the supplemental materials provided, supply a wealth of knowledge and professional perspective not commonly encountered in the genderless marriage debate.

David Blankenhorn lectureDavid Blankenhorn brings a unique voice to the debate over same-sex marriage. Mr. Blankenhorn has studied and written about all aspects of marriage for over twenty years, and is quite possibly the most studied person on the planet in the specifics of marriage itself. Despite being a self-described pro-gay liberal, Mr. Blankenhorn has concluded that same-sex marriage would not be good for children or society. He eloquently notes an inherent paradox between the interests of adults versus those of the child:

“Here is my dilemma: With every fiber of my being, I want to affirm the equal dignity of all persons and push for equal treatment under the law. Yet I’m also a marriage nut. I’ve spent most of my professional life arguing that marriage is important and that children need mothers and fathers... Is it possible to reconcile our desire for equal treatment for same-sex couples with our desire to protect and renew marriage as our primary institution?”

Please watch the video presentations from Dartmouth College to get more of Mr. Blankenhorn’s well studied insights regarding the ramifications of same-sex marriage, as well as tough questions fielded from a panel and the audience.

PatClose

Dr. Pat Fagan’s full presentation at VMAC’s first “Marriage Matters Forum” at the University of Vermont, Jan. 19th, 2008. Dr. Fagan (see bio) presented a host of data from the social sciences which deal directly with the institution of marriage, and the implications of genderless marriage.

Dr. Fagan’s PowerPoint presentation accompanies this video segment.

Dr. Fagan has encouraged critics to evaluate his presentation and e-mail any criticisms.

MonteClose1

Professor Monte Stewart’s full presentation at VMAC’s first “Marriage Matters Forum” at the University of Vermont, Jan. 19th, 2008. Professor Stewart (see bio) provided a perspective on marriage as an institution from the legal sphere

Professor Stewart’s legal arguments have a 10-0 record of wins in Appellate level court cases involving the debate of the value of man/woman marriage.

Professor Stewart’s PowerPoint presentation accompanies this video segment.

Professor Monte Stewart being berated by Sen. John Campbell of the Vermont Commission on Family Recognition and Protection (a.k.a. the “Gay Marriage Commission.”) After listening to Professor Stewart’s child-centered presentation (identical to that shown in the video above at UVM) Senator Campbell grew hostile and insulted Professor Stewart, calling him “very myopic.”

We share this video segment as a demonstration of the bias and hostility which members of VCFRP have shown to messages like Prof. Stewart’s - despite their mission to “listen” to all voices on the subject of genderless marriage. Such behavior clearly indicated the need for an alternative voice in this critical debate.
